Motivation for Overweight Individuals

Being overweight or obese is taking the world by storm. Many feel as though they may not have the time, money, or energy to exercise. However, there are many tips that can be used in order to make that decision to begin a healthier lifestyle. Some of the tips are as follows:

  • Choose an activity that is enjoyable

  • Bring a friend along

  • Set realistic goals

  • Challenge yourself to be better at a skill

  • Relapse is common. Identify your triggers and avoid them.

  • Don't overdo it. It can cause injuries.

  • Use positive self-talk

  • Begin slowly

  • Reward yourself

  • Praise yourself for your accomplishments

  • Know that the benefits of exercise far outweigh the many negative effects of not exercising

Motivation for Active Individuals

Active individuals have already taken the steps to living a healthier lifestyle. However, maintenance is the hardest part to physical activity. Relapse is common and can be avoided by acknowledging situations that can lead to lapses. In order to maintain that active lifestyle, consider the following:

  • Have fun with exercising

  • Have a support system

  • Find the best time to exercise

  • Push yourself to be better

  • Continue to achieve and set new goals

  • Consider mastering a specific skill

  • Learn new exercises to keep it fun
